We are proud to source from SAFEF farms, and here’s why you should be excited to try out their catch:
- Unbeatable Freshness: Harvest-to-plate in hours, not days. This means superior texture, sweeter flavor, and zero "mushiness" that you can literally taste.
- Guaranteed Traceability: Every fish is audited for antibiotics and contaminants. You know exactly where it came from, giving you peace of mind and a great sustainability story to tell your guests.
- Supply Chain Security: By partnering with local farms, we reduce our reliance on shaky global imports. We are building a buffer against climate disruptions and geopolitical tensions—together.
- "100% Local Catch" resonates with conscious consumers like you, who want to support Singaporean livelihoods and national resilience. Because when you choose local, you aren’t just buying fish. You’re investing in a Singapore that can feed itself.
Enjoy the delicate flavour, firm texture and clean, mud-free taste of our sustainably sourced Tilapia, expertly filleted for maximum convenience. Responsibly farmed in local waters, this premium fish is carefully processed to preserve its natural freshness, quality, and nutritional value. 3 Foolproof Ways to Cook Local Tilapia (Without Drying It Out!)
Local SAFEF Tilapia is sweet, clean-tasting, and budget-friendly. But because it is lean, it needs a little TLC. Forget dry, rubbery fish—here are the three best ways to cook it perfectly every time.
The Ultimate Crispy Crumb (Pan-Fry) – Best for Fish Tacos/Burgers
-
Pat your fillet completely dry with a paper towel.
-
Season with salt, pepper, and a squeeze of lime. Dredge in flour, then dip in beaten egg, then coat generously in panko breadcrumbs (mix in some paprika or garlic powder for extra kick!).
-
Shallow fry in a hot pan with 1cm of oil for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and crunchy.
-
Result: A crispy shell that locks in all the natural moisture.
The "Set & Forget" Parcel (Oven-Bake) – Best for Healthy Dinners
-
Lay a large piece of aluminium foil or baking paper on a tray. Place the fillet in the center.
-
Top with sliced cherry tomatoes, olives, capers, a drizzle of olive oil, lemon slices, and fresh herbs (dill or thyme work wonders).
-
Fold the edges to seal a tight parcel and bake at 190°C for 10 minutes.
-
Result: The fish poaches gently in its own steam and the tomato juices. Open the parcel at the table—zero mess, zero dry spots.
The "One-Pan" Curry or Soup (Simmer) – Best for Flavor Lovers
-
Tilapia is phenomenal poached in a light curry broth or a spicy tom yum soup.
-
Simply bring your broth to a gentle simmer (not a rolling boil), slide the fillets in, and cook for 5-6 minutes until the flesh turns opaque and flakes easily.
-
The broth does all the work, keeping the fish moist while infusing it with deep flavor.
The Golden Rule to Avoid Chalky Fish:
Use a fork to check the thickest part. The moment the flesh turns from translucent to opaque white and flakes into large chunks, it is done. Pull it off the heat immediately—residual heat will continue cooking it for another minute!
